The Pittsburgh Black History and Culture Series Program

You are invited to take a journey with Pittsburgh high school students enrolled in The Pittsburgh Black History and Culture Series Program as they share their video docu-series documenting the past, present and future of the Historic Hill District through research and interviews.

Please join us on Wednesday, February 25th, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the Jeron X. Grayson Community Center, as we support our students and their accomplishments .

The Pittsburgh Black History and Culture Series Program - sponsored by McAuley Ministries, the Housing Authority of City of Pittsburgh, Clean Slate E3 and Unity Consultants -  is an educational and leadership program for high school students from around the City of Pittsburgh.  Understanding that black history is not just an event, but a part of everyday life, the students are on a journey to learn and document the history of the city of Pittsburgh.

The research will be utilized to start a small book series to support their archival documentation projects.  The ultimate goal is to equip the students with the skills to be empowered and educated future leaders in the community.

The information gathered by the students has been compiled into a DVD to be shared with the community, stakeholders, residents and current and future leaders.
