Public Meeting for I-579 “CAP”

Wednesday, March 30, 2016 - 5:30pm
CONSOL Energy Center –Lexus Room (Trib Total Media Gate) 1001 Fifth Avenue Pittsburgh, PA 15219

The Sports & Exhibition Authority (SEA) in cooperation with The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) will hold a Public Open House for the I-579 “Cap” Urban Connector Project.  The purpose of the Open House is to provide the general public with the opportunity to have input on ideas for the future public open space.

The purpose of this project is to reconnect the Lower Hill District and Downtown neighborhoods of the City of Pittsburgh.  In order to achieve this, an approximately 230 foot wide structure between the Centre Avenue bridge and Bigelow Boulevard bridge will be constructed over the existing I-579 highway.  This “Cap” will create a new urban public open space of approximately 3 acres with accessible pedestrian and bicycle pathways, incorporating sustainable stormwater and energy strategies, and providing for other fixed site components.    SEA staff and consultants will be available to answer questions.  Please contact Roger Eaton PE, E-mail: roger.eaton [at] hdrinc.com, Telephone: (412) 497-6000 for more information.

The meeting facility is compliant with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA).  In addition, if you or an individual with whom you are familiar does not speak English as their primary language and who has a limited ability to read, write, speak or understand English desires to attend the meeting or if you require special assistance or need additional information please contact the number above.
