Hill’s Kitchen is designed to meet the community need for more retail and food-based businesses and will build a corps of entrepreneurs ready to take advantage of the opportunities offered by redevelopment in the Hill District. In addition to an existing, available restaurant space, there will be a broad range of food spaces introduced to the business corridor in 2021 — a food hall, retail spaces, co-op kitchen and more will set the stage for a regional food district. A portion of the food hall will serve as an incubator space for testing new or innovative concepts. Successful Hill’s Kitchen participants will be given preference for vendor spaces when the food hall is developed and constructed.
Coming Soon…
A cohort of 12-15 participants will meet once a week to learn the business skills required to be successful entrepreneurs and hone social and development skills by networking with industry professionals. Program facilitators from a variety of business sectors including finance, marketing, and business law will conduct classes on understanding business financials, basic legal regulations, business technology, and business management. At least one facilitator will focus on issues specific to restaurant ownership and management. The cohort will conclude with an event highlighting program participants and provide the opportunity to network and taste food prepared by newly minted graduates. The Hill District is a food desert; this program will establish a food-based entrepreneur pipeline and help revive the neighborhood by bringing restaurants, coffee shops, and cafes back to the community.
