The Rise Project - Free GED

Age 17-24? You can earn your GED for free while receiving job training for work in construction and maintenance fields.

This Program is a collaboration between Goodwill and Pittsburgh Community Services, Inc.

You will receive:

  • Free GED classes and practice exams
  • Opportunity to take the GED exam for free ($120 value)
  • Help with transportation (Port Authority Connect Card)
  • Free driver's education Classes
  • Free lunches

In addition to GED classes. RISE includes 10 weeks vocational training and a three-week externship in the following fields:

  • Carpentry
  • Electrical
  • Plumbing
  • Brick Masonry
  • Landscaping
  • Painting

Externship: Upon completion of the three-week externship, students will receive a stipend.

Additional Benefits:

  • Hands-on vocational education integrated with academics, life skills and work readiness training, service learning and internships
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA-30) in Construction Safety
  • Utilizes curriculum through Pittsburgh Community Services, Inc.

Service Availability: Rolling admission and start dates occur from July through December
